Dual Slalom Tracks: US National Championship
McGill Trail Fabrication (MTF) had the distinct pleasure of designing and building a new dual slalom track at the base of Trestle Bike Park in Winter Park, Colorado for two consecutive years. These tracks were selected to host the prestigious US National Championship, showcasing the talents of the best slalom racers across the nation.
Creating this dual slalom race track for such a big event was both challenging and rewarding for our team. The goal was to produce a course that was not only fun and exciting to ride but also challenging and fair for riders of all skill levels.
The natural terrain presented a unique challenge during construction, which MTF embraced with enthusiasm! One concern was the local soil conditions weren’t ideal for crafting a smooth, predictable surface. Ultimately, we filtered and mixed soils, carefully removed rocks, and worked tirelessly to create a surface that was not only smooth and durable but also capable of withstanding the high-altitude weather of the Rockies.
The result? A track that held up to hundreds of competitors and a range of weather conditions, all while offering an intuitive yet technical riding experience. It was a true testament to the craftsmanship, dedication, and love for the sport that MTF poured into every aspect of the build. The track provided a thrilling challenge for the nation’s top riders and a smooth, exciting ride for all who took it on.
