Project Overview:
Mount Trashmore stands as a testament to the power of sustainable design and repurposing, providing the community of Cedar Rapids with a one-of-a-kind outdoor recreational experience. MTF's involvement in this project includes the creation of two distinct trail designs that highlight the natural beauty and sustainability of the site: the Trashmore Trail and the Stumpton Trail.
- Trashmore Trail: This downhill Green Flow Trail winds its way down Mount Trashmore, offering riders a thrilling descent amidst breathtaking scenery. The Trashmore trail features rollers, sweeping berms, and tabletop jumps, providing riders with an exhilarating and flowy ride down the mountain.
- Stumptown Trail: Complementing the experience at Mount Trashmore is the Stumptown Hiking Trail, a 4 ft. path specifically built for hikers to enjoy the natural beauty of the site. Constructed using crusher fine, a type of gravel, the Stumptown Trail offers hikers a smooth and scenic journey through the landscape.
MTF's dedication to sustainable practices is evident in the sourcing of materials for both trails, with 100% of the material imported to minimize disturbance to the site. Mount Trashmore represents a true collaboration between MTF and the Cedar Rapids community, transforming a once-unused landfill into a vibrant multi-use destination. As Mount Trashmore continues to evolve and thrive, MTF looks forward to continuing our partnership with communities across the nation to create trails that inspire and endure.
